High winds and low humidity have caused havoc for days for local firemen as they continue to fight grass and woods fires across the region prompting Newton County Judge Ronnie Cochran to initiate a ban on burning.
The measure makes it illegal to burn outdoors without exception in a move that officials hope will reduce the chance of fire danger.
