A Newton County home was destroyed in a Wednesday evening fire. Captain Melanie Smith of the Newton Fire Department said it occurred at the residence of Cody Green & Tiffany Spillars in the 6000 block of U.S. Highway 87 South in the Pine Grove Community. Captain Smith said Newton firefighters along with the Trout Creek and Roganville Fire Departments worked to douse the fire, and were able to save several nearby structures. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is unknown.
