The U.S. Forest Service has released video footage from a drone which shows that the Sabine National Forest Wildfire has now reached the western shore of Toledo Bend Reservoir. There was no update on the size of the blaze on Wednesday, but as of Tuesday it was just under 1,200 acres and growing. The blaze began on Monday, July 24th in an area known as “Hog Pen” and “Indian Mounds Wilderness”, which is between Hemphill and the lake. Forest Service officials say it was a lightning strike from a small passing thunderstorm that day which caused the fire. Forest Service firefighters from Texas and six other states, along with Puerto Rico, and also contract firefighters from Florida and Georgia have been battling the blaze.
