Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

Jasper County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Scotty Duncan says a woman used a stolen gun to shoot a man during a family disturbance late Tuesday night. It happened on Circle Drive in Brookeland. According to Duncan, it began with a man assaulting his cousin, a woman, and then another man jumped into the fray. Duncan said the woman then used a handgun, which was reported stolen out of Newton County, and shot her cousin in the ankle. Deputy Karli Cherry says that the male was transported by private vehicle to a Lufkin hospital, while the female went by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Meanwhile, Cherry says that the names of those involved will not be released until arrest warrants are issued.
