Jasper Police say a routine traffic stop turned into a chase. Officers say it all began when they pulled over a vehicle on Highway 190 in front of Burger King around noon on Sunday. As officers were talking to the driver of the vehicle, Jeremy Hughes they learned that he was wanted for a parole violation. That's when they say Hughes bolted out of the vehicle and ran west on Cole Street. Officers fell into chase but Hughes reportedly got away and at last word was still at large. While the chase was underway, a burglar alarm sounded in a warehouse about a block away at Jimmy Aud and Son Appliances and Furniture on Highway 96. However, police could not find where the building had been entered and they do not know if the two incidents were related.
