Burkeville Fire Chief Charles Duckworth says a driver was trapped in a car upside-down and suffering from a severe leg injury following a Sunday night rollover crash. It occurred at about 9:00 on Highway 87, approximately 5 miles south of Burkeville. According to Chief Duckworth, firefighters had to use both the Jaws-of-Life and a winch on a fire truck in order to get the injured driver out of the vehicle. According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark, 39-year-old Preston Floyd, of Newton, was driving the 2015 Toyota Camry northbound when the car went off the highway for an unknown reason. The car crashed through a creek and then landed upside-down. Floyd was flown by medical helicopter to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with possible life-threatening injuries.
