Man injured in accident, another man issued citations after nearly hitting firefighters

A Tyler County man was injured in a Friday morning accident, and another driver received citations and his car was towed after he nearly ran over firefighters who were directing traffic. According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark, James Carol, Jr., 66, of Spurger, was driving a 2007 Ford F-250 pickup truck eastbound on Farm to Market Road 1005 near County Road 317. Sergeant Clark said the front passenger side tire blew out, resulting in the truck going off of the highway and striking a tree. It then rolled onto its side. Carol was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, as Tri-Community firefighters were helping to direct traffic, a man nearly hit one of them and continued driving. Jasper County Sheriff's deputies stopped the man, and Deputy Karli Cherry said that he was issued multiple traffic citations and his car was towed.
