NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - A man has died after he was injured in a Nacogdoches shooting Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Gerber Danilo Panteleon-Palencia, 33, of Nashville, TN, according to the Nacogdoches Police Department.

The suspect, Hernan Cuarenta, 17, of Nacogdoches, is now charged with first-degree murder.

Thursday, officers arrived at N. Popp Street after neighbors reported hearing gunshots. There they found Panteleon-Palencia, who was visiting family, in the front yard with two bullet wounds.

Cuarenta was arrested Thursday and is now charged with first-degree murder instead of aggravated assault. He is also charged with theft of a firearm and is being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail.
