Police in Port Arthur say a woman from Groves died on Friday evening when she was struck by a vehicle while walking on Gulfway Drive. The accident occurred shortly after 10:00 in the 5300 block of Gulfway near the Beverly Place Apartments.
Officers say 70-year-old Debra Henton was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Joseph Guillory II, who has called for an autopsy in the case.
