SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - A man who was sentenced to life in prison for the 2022 murder of a Sherman woman died serving his sentence in an east Texas prison.
According to a report from the Texas Attorney General’s Office, Brandon Tom, 34, was found unresponsive in his cell Thursday, and he was taken to the infirmary before being transported to the Palestine Regional Medical Center.
His condition got worse, and life-saving measures were performed by medical staff before he was pronounced dead early Thursday morning.
Tom was serving a life sentence after he confessed to sexually assaulting and murdering his friend Elizabeth Harrison, 28, in early August of 2022.
At the time, family told News 12 Harrison had gone to check on Tom because he was grieving a death.
His cause of death is being investigated, pending autopsy results.
