The Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department says a man has been arrested and is accused of committing child sex crimes against multiple children, one of which was only 5-years-old. According to Sheriff Aaron Mitchell, 60-year-old Jerry Bryant Vines, Jr., of Converse, has been charged with nine felony counts. Sheriff Mitchell says the investigation began earlier this month when someone came forward and said that Vines had touched her in a sexual manner when she was 11-years-old. Mitchell said after he was arrested, four more girls came forward and told their stories to investigators about child sexual abuse involving Vines that had been occurring over the last 25 years.
Vines has been charged with the following crimes:
~ 6 counts of First Degree Rape of a Child (victim under age 13)
~ 1 count of Sexual Battery (victim under age 11)
~ 1 count of Oral Sexual Battery of a Child (victim under age 15)
~ 1 count of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile (victim under age 13)
Bond on Vines has not yet been set.
