The Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry says an investigation is underway after an arsonist set piles of logs and logging equipment on fire in Vernon Parish. It happened in an area off of Highway 465 north of Simpson, which is about 17 miles northeast of Leesville. Investigators say the fire destroyed one skidder and damaged another skidder and a loader. The total damage was estimated to be more than a half-million dollars.
