Two people injured in Saturday evening crash west of Jasper near Beech Grove

Two people are undergoing treatment for the injuries they received in a two vehicle auto accident that occurred shortly before 6:00 on Saturday evening on Highway 190 near Beech Grove. The volunteers of the Beech Grove Fire Department, along with other emergency crews, were dispatched to the location just east of the intersection of Farm to Market Road 777, when it was reported that the crash had occurred, leaving a late model Hyundai Elantra sedan, driven by 22-year-old Natasha Williams, of Alexandria, Louisiana, at the edge of a wooded area. Firemen used hydraulic tools to remove the drivers side door and door post to rescue Williams from the vehicle. Williams was taken by ambulance to the Beech Grove Fire Station on FM-777, where she was then transferred to a helicopter and flown to a hospital in Beaumont. A passenger of the vehicle was treated at the scene and firemen said she would most likely be transported by ambulance to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital. William Watson, 74, of Newton, who was driving an early model quad cab Dodge pickup truck, said the crash occurred when he pulled out from a nearby driveway. Watson, who was not injured in the crash, said he looked to the east and did not see anything coming before pulling out. However, the crash occurred below a hill. State Trooper Curtis Bennet is investigating the incident.
