Longview police say man charged in dog-attack death

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - A Longview man has been arrested in connection with a man found dead in the road with dog bite wounds. According to the Longview Police Department, Martin Gilbert Rodriguez, 56, was charged with attack by a dog causing death on Thursday. The new charge is in relation to the death of a 46-year-old man found at MLK Boulevard and Rayburn Drive in Longview around 3 a.m. on Feb. 1. Police confiscated multiple dogs from a nearby residence that day, they said, but they did not confirm if they belonged to Rodriguez. Rodriguez remains in custody after his arrest on numerous unrelated charges on Feb. 1, including 28 counts of animal at large. His bond for the new charge has not been listed.
