GREGG COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A Longview man has been charged after police say he shot his neighbor’s dog to death.

Toby Bennett, 63, is charged with cruelty to a non-livestock animal after his Friday arrest. According to the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, Bennett is believed to have shot his neighbor’s dog while it was on the neighbor’s property.

The sheriff’s office responded to the scene in the northern part of the county around 7:49 p.m. Friday, where they were alerted that a dog had been shot by a neighbor. Upon arrival, they say they found probable cause to arrest Bennett for the crime.

Bennett bonded out of the Gregg County Jail Saturday for $10,000.
