Livingston residents show support for Audrii Cunningham during procession to funeral home

LIVINGSTON, Texas (KTRE) - Members of the community could be seen gathered along U.S. Highway 190 as Audrii Cunningham’s body was taken to a funeral home in Livingston. “Things like this just, really, it hurts,” said Livingston resident Beverly Colvin. The Livingston ISD school bus that Audrii was supposed to ride the day she went missing joined the procession, along with Livingston police and fire personnel and Polk County sheriff’s deputies. “I have grandbabies of my own. There ain’t no way I could handle it if it was one of mine,” said Livingston resident Keith Randall. Livingston ISD Superintendent Brent Hawkins remembers Audrii loving school, being actively involved in science, reading and arts. Audrii is the fourth student the district has lost this school year. Though it never gets easier, Hawkins said they try to meet students and faculty where they are, with additional counselors being made available. Going forward, Audrii’s memory will live on with the Audrii Cunningham Memorial Scholarship for Livingston ISD seniors. Hawkins said it was the perfect way to honor the little girl who loved school. “When Audrii’s class graduates, we want this thing to continue so that we adequately honor her memory,” said Hawkins.
