MANY, La. -- A man wanted on outstanding arrest warrants was shot Monday morning after firing at Sabine Parish sheriff's deputies who pursued him, according to information from Sheriff Aaron Mitchell. James Olin Manshack, 36, of Many was shot in the leg. No deputies were injured. Manshack was taken to Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. When he's released, Manshack will be booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center on numerous charges, including attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer. The shooting happened shortly after 9:15 a.m. off Louisiana Avenue in Many. Deputies went there in search of Manshack, who was wanted on state probation and parole violations and several outstanding sex offender warrants. Deputies saw Manshack on the porch of a home on Taylor Street. He ran from them and got behind a house on McClain Circle and shot at one of the deputies as he rounded the corner, the sheriff said. The deputy returned fire, hitting Manshack once. The investigation is ongoing.
