The Kirbyville Police Department is warning residents about a new scam targeting the community.
According to authorities, scammers are sending text messages claiming that the recipient has active tickets associated with their phone number. The message may urge the person to take immediate action.
Police Chief Paul Brister emphasized that these messages are fraudulent. The Kirbyville Police Department and local courts do not use text messages to notify individuals about active tickets.
Residents are urged not to respond to these messages, not to click any links, and to report the scam if received.
