POLK COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - An Onalaska caretaker has pleaded guilty after she was accused of defrauding her Polk County employer of over $70,000.
Nancy Kay Boyd, 60 pleaded guilty to exploitation of the elderly on March 4. She was also ordered to pay $15,000 in restitution and sentenced to five years of probation. A charge of financial abuse of the elderly was dismissed.
The investigation began in 2022 when the Polk County sheriff’s Office reported Boyd accessed over $70,000 through ATM withdrawals, forged checks, use of her employer’s credit card and wire transfers while working as an at-home caretaker, according to an affidavit.
The affidavit states records totaling at $79,689.81 were confirmed fraudulent.
