A man from Kirbyville is dead and State Police have reportedly obtained more information concerning the accident that occurred early Friday morning near Mauriceville including the owner of a horse.
Troopers say the accident occurred shortly before 3:00 on Highway 62, not far from the intersection of Farm to Market Road 2802, when a vehicle driven by 52-year-old John Thomas Lloyd struck a horse.
Since that time officers had been trying to locate the owner of the horse and find out more about why it was in the highway.
All that was known about the horse is that it was white and had a braided mane. However, Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard said Monday that the owner of the horse had been found. However, no other information has been released.
