Jasper Police believe alcohol to be a factor in a one-vehicle accident that occurred just a few blocks west of the Jasper County Courthouse late Saturday evening.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the location on West Houston Street at the intersection of 1st Street shortly after 11:00 when it was reported that a late model Dodge Ram Truck, which was headed westbound on Houston, had suddenly left the street, struck a utility pole and a mail box and then it hit a concrete wall on the north side of the sidewalk.
The name of the driver, who did not appear to be injured, has not been released pending formal charges at arraignment.
Jasper firemen were dispatched to the scene, but no fire resulted from the incident.
