LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The juvenile shot on Tuesday evening in Lufkin has died.
According to the Lufkin Police Department, the juvenile died early Thursday morning at a Houston hospital.
Police arrested Julious Griffin, 26, for the crime that took place Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the 100 block of Percy Simond. Officers said Griffin admitted to shooting the victim but claimed it was an act of self-defense.
The victim was taken to Woodland Heights Medical Center the night of the shooting and was later airlifted to a hospital out of town.
Griffin was first charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Detectives are actively following up on information and murder charges are pending against him.
