What caused it is still not known, but two vehicles collided on Thursday evening on Highway 96, just south of Jasper.
The volunteers of the Tri-Community Fire Department and other emergency personnel were dispatched to the location just south of Farm to Market Road 1005 shortly after 9:00, when it was reported that the crash involving an early model Nissan pickup truck an early model Chevrolet pickup had occurred, leaving both vehicles severely damaged.
The driver of the Chevrolet was taken by ambulance to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Nissan told a deputy that he was not injured and declined medical treatment.
At last word State Troopers were investigating the accident, which left one of the trucks in the roadway and the other off the road in a ditch to determine the cause of the crash.
