Jasper Police have captured a man who they say is wanted in connection with an attempted murder in Louisiana who evaded them earlier this week. Captain Mike Poindexter said Saturday that the suspect, Mikel Young was arrested shortly after 11:00 on Friday evening at the Prospect Point Apartments on Premier Drive, behind the Lowe's Home Improvement Store here in Jasper, the same place where was last seen on Thursday. Poindexter credited Jasper Police officers Jimmy Neal and Tom Smith along with Clint Fowler with making the arrest. According to Poindexter, Young, who was wanted on a warrant issued in the New Orleans Area was found hiding in a small outbuilding or tool shed when a trained police dog handed by officer Fowler alerted them. It all began on Thursday when officers received information leading them to believe Young was at the apartment complex. However, upon their arrival at the scene Young reportedly ran towards the nearby Walmart Store. Even though officer covered on the store and search the building and nearby area but were never able to find him. Young was reportedly taken to the Jasper County Jail where he was at last word still being held and officers in Louisiana notified of his whereabouts.
