BOSSIER CITY, La. -- Motorists who use the Jimmie Davis Bridge and adjacent roadways should expect intermittent lane closures as work gets underway on the bridge replacement project. State Highway 511, which is the Jimmie Davis Highway and E 70th Street in Bossier City and Shreveport, along with Arthur Ray Teague Parkway in Bossier City and Clyde Fant Parkway in Shreveport will be affected. The lane closures on Arthur Ray Teague and Clyde Fant Parkways are in place at the Jimmie Davis Bridge overpass on each roadway. The lane closures are to allow for reconstruction and widening of Highway 511 to align with the new four-lane bridge. Currently, the contractor is working on clearing and grubbing to make way for the trestle bridge that will be used to build the new bridge out over the Red River. Two cranes have been mobilized and are in place on the two parkways to be used for this purpose. All of these lane closures will remain in place for approximately the next 2.5 years as work on the new Jimmie Davis Bridge moves forward. The project is estimated to be complete in early 2027, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
