SHREVEPORT, La. – Police are trying to piece together what led to a shooting late Monday in Shreveport's Werner Park neighborhood. Police say two individuals in the area of Westover between Velva and Fairy opened fire on a group of people. A KTBS 3 News crew spotted several shell casings on the ground. Authorities say the would be targets then chased the gunmen. Gunfire was exchanged and one person was shot. He ran to a house and was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle where he was pronounced dead. Four people were detained by police. One other suspect tried to get away and crashed into a utility police at Hearne and Lakehurst. He was also taken into custody. This is the 35th shooting in Shreveport in 2024 and it happened in the 71108 zip code.
