The Texas Department of Public Safety has released new details and the identities of the victims in a double-fatality wreck that involved three vehicles and occurred at about 11:30 Monday morning on Interstate 10 in Vidor. Troopers say it happened when 60-year-old James Wyatt, of Orange, began driving a 2021 Dodge Ram truck westbound in the eastbound lanes of the interstate and collided head-on with a 2016 Dodge Ram truck driven by Javier Munoz, 62, and occupied by his wife, Dolores Munoz, 53, both of Houston. Dolores Munoz and James Wyatt were pronounced dead at the scene, while Javier Munoz was rushed to Beaumont’s St Elizabeth Hospital with life-threatening injuries. There was a third vehicle involved, but DPS had no information on the occupants of that vehicle.

Two people were killed in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Vidor shortly after 11:00 Monday morning. Details about the accident or who was involved are not yet known. Orange County Constable Matt Ortego said a man held his wife’s hand as she died. Ortego said it was one of the worst accidents he had seen in 17 years of police work. Six people were transported to area hospitals, and I-10 was shut down for some time due to debris and oil on the pavement. KJAS News will update this story when more information becomes available.
