CROCKETT, Texas (KTRE) - Houston County Sheriff Zak Benge reports that one of his deputies and another driver were injured in a wreck on Thursday.

Benge said that Deputy Weston Reeves was driving on Hwy 287 North at FM 2423 when it appears another vehicle ran a stop sign and struck Reeves’ patrol truck. His truck began to spin and rolled over at least once, Benge reports.

Reeves was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Crockett as a precautionary measure. The other driver was attended to at the scene and released. Benge said he is thankful both drivers will recover quickly, since they were not seriously injured.

Texas DPS troopers are investigating the wreck. Grapeland EMS, Grapeland Fire Department and Police Department also responded to the scene of the wreck. Crockett Police Department assisted the sheriff’s office with their calls as they attended to their fellow deputy, Benge added.
