Hardin County man sentenced in bank robbery case

A Federal Judge has sent a Kountze man to federal prison for 7 years and 3 months for a June 2022 bank robbery in Lumberton. It was, in fact, his second conviction and prison sentence for an armed robbery. Timothy Shane Mitchell, 39, entered a guilty plea before U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone on Tuesday morning in Beaumont and she then handed down the prison sentence. Prosecutors said Mitchell robbed Community Bank of Texas by giving the teller a note demanding money and saying that he had a gun which he would use if she alerted law enforcement. Mitchell left the bank with $5,860.00, but he was captured just a short time later by Lumberton Police. Mitchell was convicted in 2015 for the robbery of a convenience store in Hudson on the west side of Lufkin. Mitchell served five years in prison for that crime.
