Former treasurer of band boosters and fire department indicted

Archived as originally published. Information reflects the date of this article.

The Sabine County Grand Jury has indicted a woman who served as treasurer for both the Hemphill High School Band Boosters and the Pendleton Harbor Volunteer Fire Department. Samantha Jo Hill, 30, is accused of stealing money from both organizations. Hill has been indicted on charges of Money Laundering, Misappropriation of Fiduciary/Financial Property, Theft of Property, and Forgery of a Financial instrument. Hill was arrested in June of 2023 following an investigation into missing funds from both organizations. An indictment by a grand jury doesn’t mean that the person named in the indictment is guilty of any crime. Instead, it indicates that grand jurors felt that enough evidence existed to merit a trial.
