Newton Police Chief Will Jackson says officers investigated a report of gunshots being heard very late Saturday night in the area of Newton High School. Chief Jackson said spent shell casings were found on Highway 190 and were collected as evidence. Jackson said officers checked nearby residences and, fortunately, no people, houses, or vehicles were hit by the gunfire.
