LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkin ISD police are investigating after a gun was confiscated from a student on Wednesday morning. Lufkin ISD officials released a statement to social media stating that a gun had been found in a student’s backpack and Lufkin High School. The student has since been removed from the campus and police are conducting an investigation alongside school administrators. The statement said this is believed to be an isolated incident and there are no current threats against the school. Officials also noted that this incident was not related to the shelter in place drill, which was scheduled and conducted this morning.
