Former postal worker sentenced to federal prison for stealing mail

A former employee of the U.S. Postal Service has been sentenced to federal prison for stealing mail. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Texas says Pamela Jo Rosas, 65, of Beaumont, received a 3 year and 1 month sentence from U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on Monday. Prosecutors said the investigation began in April of 2020 when it was reported that several packages containing expensive coins were missing. According to prosecutors, federal agents began surveillance and identified Rosas as a suspect, and then found several stolen packages in her possession. Prosecutors said Rosas later admitted to stealing numerous packages over the previous three to four years, and in her residence they found hundreds of valuable coins and many other items that had been stolen from the mail.
