A former longtime Beaumont Police Department officer, who retired from in 2010, is charged with Assault-Family Violence in Jasper County.
Sheriff Chuck Havard says Ray Beck, 74, was arrested today and charged with Assault-Family Violence Impeding Breath, a 3rd Degree Felony. If convicted, he could face 2-10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
He was in the process of bonding out this afternoon.
Beck lives in Georgetown, near Austin.
Havard says on June 5, 2026, Investigator A.J. Noel was contacted by Havard and asked to meet with a complainant about an assault. Investigator Noel met with the woman, who reported being assaulted by a former partner in 2025.
An investigation was initiated, and numerous items of evidence were collected and analyzed, according to Havard. The case was submitted to the District Attorney for review. It was determined that probable cause had been established, and an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect, identified as Ray Beck, 74, of Georgetown. Beck was arrested and charged with Assault Family Violence Impeding Breath.
Ray Beck retired from the Beaumont Police Department in 2010 after more than 35 years of service. He officially left his position as a police lieutenant that year.
