GREGG COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A former Kilgore ISD choir director pleaded guilty on Monday to accusations that he had an improper relationship with a student. Philip Nix, was arrested in Seymour on Monday, July 25, 2022. He worked as choir director from 2018 until he tendered his resignation in May 2021. He was initially charged with sexually assaulting a minor and having an improper relationship with a student. On Monday he pleaded guilty to the improper relationship charge and was sentenced to 10 years in state prison. He was given one day credit toward his sentence for time served.
