DERIDDER, La. (KPLC) - The former mayor of DeRidder has been indicted in connection with her alleged sexual relationship with an underage teen. Misty Roberts Clanton, 42, resigned in late July. She was arrested Aug. 1 and released later that morning on $75,000 bond. Roberts originally faced third-degree rape charges, but the grand jury returned counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The alleged victim and another teen both confirmed to investigators that Roberts had sex with the juvenile, according to state police. Under Louisiana law, felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile is defined as consensual sexual intercourse with a child between 13 and 16.
