Havard tabs Steve Crowell to serve as a Major in Jasper County Sheriff’s Department

Jasper County Sheriff-Elect Chuck Havard has announced the selection of law enforcement veteran Steve Crowell to serve with the rank of Major. According to Havard, Crowell has 37 years of law enforcement experience which began with the Sour Lake Police Department and then the Lumberton Police Department. Havard says Crowell was then hired on by the Texas Department of Public Safety where he first served in highway patrol, and later in the criminal investigation division. Havard says Crowell has also been a member of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and the U.S. Marshal’s Service Fugitive Task Force. Chuck Havard will be sworn in as Jasper County Sheriff at midnight on Wednesday, January 1st, 2025. His number-two man will be former Jasper County Deputy and former DPS Trooper Larry Pulliam serving as Chief Deputy.
