Firefighters used everything from boots to bulldozers on Thursday wildfires

Firefighters used everything from boots to bulldozers to handle multiple wildfires that broke out around the same time on Thursday afternoon in north Jasper County. At about 12:30, the Angelina River Fire Department was sent to Highway 63 West where multiple fires were reported along the side of the highway, stretching from County Road 032 all the way to the Angelina County line. Just a few minutes later, the Lake Rayburn Fire Department was sent to Recreational Road 255 where multiple fires were reported along the side of the highway on and near the Sam Rayburn Dam. Angelina River firefighters and the U.S. Forest Service used brush trucks and bulldozers to get a handle on their string of fires along Highway 63. Meanwhile, a Lake Rayburn firefighter in his personal vehicle hopped out and managed to stomp out the individual fires along Highway 255. It’s unknown what caused the string of fires, or if they were all related.
