Fire destroys home in Pineland

A fire that broke out on Thursday evening at a home in Pineland has left a family homeless and destroyed almost everything they owned.

The fire, which occurred late in the evening quickly moved through the single story structure located at 700 Maple Street at Katherine Sage Park.

Occupants included the family of four, city employee Cody Scarborough, Alexis Parnell, a police officer for the City of San Augustine, and two young children. However, no injuries resulted from the blaze.

Due to the fact that the home was a total loss, workers with the City of Pineland and others are asking for help with clothes and other personal items including:

Due to the fact that the home was a total loss, workers with the City of Pineland and others are asking for help with clothes and other personal items.

Pineland City Hall will be accepting contributions of help for the family. Monetary contributions along with clothing or other items may be dropped at the new Pineland City Hall, located at 110 Timberland Highway (in the west wing of Southside Bank Building).
