The Texas Department of Public Safety says a driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend in Shelby County. It happened shortly after 9:00am Saturday on Highway 96, just north of Center. Troopers say Michael Whisenant, 45, of Center, was driving a 2023 Dodge passenger car northbound when he, for an unknown reason, left the highway and crashed into a tree. Whisenant, who was ejected from the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
