NATCHITOCHES, La. - Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a Wednesday night homicide that claimed the life of an 18-year-old.
The shooting happened in the 200 block of Independence Drive south of Natchitoches just after 11 p.m. Deputies found Damarion Deshawn Tyrell Lewis with several gunshot wounds.
Lewis was rushed to Natchitoches Regional Medical Center before he was airlifted to Ochsner LSU Health Medical Center in Shreveport. He was confirmed dead just before 3 a.m.
Investigators found multiple shell casings in the roadway near the home, which sustained damage from several gunshots.
Authorities are working to identify possible suspects.
This is the first homicide investigated by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office in 2026.
