BLOOMBURG, Texas (KLTV) - A woman has been charged with capital murder after Cass County authorities responded to a 911 call for a severely injured girl, who has since died.
At about 6:31 a.m. on Saturday, the Atlanta Police Department received a 911 call from a home off of FM 74 after an injured woman ran to her neighbor asking for help, according to a release from Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe.
Rowe said when officers arrived they found a 9-year-old girl suffering from “severe trauma” and took her to a nearby hospital. The injured woman, who was the girl’s grandmother, gave officers the description of a vehicle in which the girl’s mother had fled, Rowe said.
Officers found the vehicle abandoned off of FM 74, but Cass County ESD #3 was able to locate the woman using a drone, the release said.
Allison French was detained and taken to a hospital for self-inflicted injuries, Rowe said. The grandmother is also being treated for self-defense wounds, according to authorities, but the girl was pronounced dead at the hospital.
French has been arrested and charged with capital murder. Investigation is ongoing.
