CARTHAGE, Texas (KLTV) - A deputy noticed a vehicle in Carthage that had been reported stolen out of Louisiana, which led to a chase involving three counties before the driver attempted to run on foot.

A sergeant identified a vehicle reported stolen from Bossier City, Louisiana, on Loop 436 in Carthage on Saturday, according to a release from the Panola County Sheriff’s Office. The officer attempted a “high-risk traffic stop,” with other sheriff’s office units arriving to assist.

The release says the driver refused to exit the vehicle and took off on US Highway 59 North into Harrison County, before turning westbound on I-20, with Panola, Harrison and DPS authorities in pursuit. The driver exited onto State Highway 43 and headed south back into Panola County, then Rusk County, the release said.

A trooper struck the vehicle at the Henderson star, ending the pursuit, the release said. The driver then attempted to run on foot, but was tased and taken into custody after being medically cleared, authorities said.

Deputies said they found multiple types of narcotics and a gun during investigation.
