Jasper County Judge Mark Allen on Saturday that the burn ban for Jasper County had been re-instated. This comes after area fire departments began dealing with numerous wildfires, many of which they say were caused by careless burning after the last burn ban expired. Judge Allen said this burn ban will be in effect until Saturday, October 28th, but could be extended by the Commissioners Court is it needs to be. The burn ban here in Jasper County had expired on Tuesday. However, on that same day Tyler County Judge Milton Powers re-instated the burn ban there due to the numerous fires that had occurred. The burn ban in Newton County has remained in place and authorities there have said it will expire on October 31st unless they feel it should be extended. Meanwhile, the National Weather Service says our area has a chance of much needed rainfall coming mid-week.
