A Jasper County woman was one of three people injured in a multi-vehicle crash in the Golden Triangle on Wednesday afternoon. The accident occurred at about 3:00 on Interstate 10, just west of Vidor.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 72-year-old Betty Nichols, of Buna, was driving a 2019 BMW SUV when a vehicle in another lane swerved to miss something on the highway and collided with her vehicle, which sent it into the next lane over and collided with an 18-wheeler.
DPS said Nichols was taken to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment, as was the driver of the 18-wheeler, a Houston man. However, troopers say the driver who caused the chain reaction collision, 69-year-old Eugene Breaux, of Sour Lake, was not injured.
There’s no word on the severity of injuries to Betty Nichols or the truck driver.
