This number is to be used if you or someone you know is in danger of suicide or experiencing a mental health crisis. Callers can receive immediate crisis counseling, resources, and referrals for future treatment. In some cases and where available, they may dispatch a mobile crisis unit to your location.
The 988-dialing code aims to provide people with an easy-to-remember number to use in a crisis, like 911.
