Jasper County Sheriff Chuck Havard said late Wednesday afternoon that a Buna man remains missing despite extensive efforts to find him which have included numerous searches on land, water and from the sky. However, so no sign of Steven Morgan has been found. It all began on Friday when Morgan, age 60, was in a boat fishing in a body of water known as “Ten Acre Slough” just northwest of Buna. Havard said late Friday afternoon Morgan called his wife on his cell phone and told her that his boat had turned over and he had made it to a small island or ridge. However, he was never seen or heard from again. Jasper County deputies along with officers from the Texas Parks and Wildlife and firefighters from Buna and Evadale have been conducting search operations each day since Morgan went missing. Since that time the search has utilized boats, a helicopter and on Wednesday and drone along with underwater cameras.
