LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Westlake Fire Department extinguished a boat engulfed in flames Sunday evening.
Firefighters responded to the call, where one person suffered burn injuries. Bystanders brought that person to a nearby boat launch, where Acadian Ambulance treated them.
Officials say the injured person chose not to go to the hospital.
Because of the intensity of the fire, crews allowed the flames to die down before putting out the remaining hot spots.
Westlake Fire officials remind boaters to inspect and maintain their vessels, and to keep a charged fire extinguisher on board at all times.
