Officers with the Texas Department of Public Safety said Friday that a 67-year-old passenger died when the driver crashed into the back of a dump truck on State Highway 87 near Sea Rim State Park.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates the driver of the dump truck pulled from a private drive and began traveling east on SH 87.
It is reported the driver of a car was traveling east and struck the rear of the dump truck.
The deceased, only identified as a man from Beaumont, died at the scene.
The driver of the dump truck, identified as 50-year-old Antonio Goris of Port Arthur, wasn't injured.
