DeRidder Police say a woman on an electric bicycle was hit and killed late Wednesday morning. It happened at about 11:30 on Highway 190 at Planer Mill Road, on the far west side of that city. Police say a man was driving a pickup truck eastbound on Highway 190 when the bicyclist, who was on Planer Mill Road, entered the highway in front of him. She was rushed by ambulance to the Beauregard Health System Emergency Room where she died a short time later. As of Thursday, the names of those involved had not yet been released. DeRidder Police noted that they have investigated multiple vehicle/bicycle crashes since January 1st and in each case the bicyclist was at fault.
